An acclaimed singer/songwriter who has played and recorded with bands Monroe  & Moving Hearts.  After the break up of Moving Hearts he concentrated on song-writing and released his first album “Still Not Cured”.  Three songs from this album became radio hits; Still Not Cured”, “The Silence” and “Sorry What I Said” .

Renowned for her unique interpretation of Irish and Roots songs, Eleanor Shanley from Co Leitrim, is one of Irelands foremost singers. She has been at the top of her profession since her first appearance with De Danann in 1990. She recorded two critically acclaimed albums with them ‘A Jacket of Batteries’ and ‘Half Set in Harlem’. While a member of De Danann she toured Europe, Australia, China, Japan and the USA as well as taking part in several tours of Ireland.

The Pillar House presents A Weekend of Irish Music, Heritage & Culture Friday 12th – Sunday 14th September 2014

From Ballinasloe to Boston, Larry Reynolds (1932 – 2012) was one of the most influential fiddle players of his time, not only for his East Galway style of playing but also because of the contribution he made to Irish Culture in Boston and throughout North America. He emigrated to Boston from Ahascragh, Ballinasloe in 1953 and quickly became immersed in the lively Irish Music Scene in Roxbury. He was a founding member of the Boston Branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann, which became one of the most active branches in the world.

Pillar House launch ‘Down the back’

The launch of “Down the Back” on Sunday night was a brilliant success. A great band from Shannonbridge, Tir na nOg, the young talented Kenny family who are all great musicians and superb vocals. Niamh, last October Fair won the Best Female Singer in the Singing Pub Competition while gigging in The Pillar House.

Sean Keane launches the Pillar House Folk Club

The Pillar House in Ballinasloe, building on the success of their Live Music Programme and weekly Sunday Trad Session have established “The Pillar House Folk Club” which was launched on Friday Night, 13th June with a fantastic performance by the legendary Sean Keane.  It was a super night and an amazing show to a sold out house of just 80 people, with many people disappointed not to be able to secure tickets.
